Sunday, April 27: Bike Rodeo (FREE)
Ages: 2-10 with Adult

The Liberty Mutual Bike Safety Rodeo will help preschool and elementary school-aged children learn bike safety in a fun and educational setting. Kids learn important rules of the road and have a chance to test their knowledge on a miniature riding course complete with real-road challenges! There will be bike safety quizzes and giveaways, too. Participants must bring their own bike and wear a properly fitted bike helmet. Registration is not necessary for this program.

Sunday, April 27: WACKY Miniature Gold Top Pro Challenge
Ages: 6 & Up

It's not just for kids! Fun and crazy play will take place during this tournament. Can you shoot between your legs? Can you putt while lying on the ground? Join us for this wacky round of golf. Be the Top Mini Golf Pro of 2014! Top winner in each age group wins FREE GOLF for the 2014 season and will have your photo posted in the Maryknoll Clubhouse. Hot dogs, chips and a beverage will be provided.

Saturday, May 3: Mother/Son Bowling
Ages: 3-10 & Mom

Hey moms! Why should the dads and daughters have all the fun? Join us for a fun afternoon with your favorite little man. We're headed to Fox Bowl for a fun filled afternoon of pizza and bowling! Each family will team up shooting for the highest average score out of two games. A prize will be awarded to the team with best average score, and the most creatively dressed team. [JR]

Let's go shopping - spring is the perfect time for a treasure hunt! Shoppers are admitted for FREE! Sellers can rent a 10ft x 10ft booth space at our sale (booth layout is available at MSRC). We also have eight tables to rent (additional $6) on a first come, first served basis (one per person). You must register in person at Main Street Recreation Center for booth space and table rental.

Come boating at Lake Ellyn Park! Pack a picnic, bring your family and enjoy a nice walk around the lake, your favorite picnic lunch and a canoe ride to finish off the day. Canoes, paddles, oars and life jackets are provided for 20 minute rentals. No grilling allowed except in the designated area.

Friday, June 6: Teen Splash Bash
Grade: 6-8

Celebrate the start of summer! Our DJ will keep the party music jumpin’ so you can dance, play games and enjoy the pool and waterslide. Grab your swimsuit, money for food and join your friends! The concession stand will be open. Glen Ellyn students whose school does not provide an ID must enter with parent. Incoming 6th graders will need their parents’ verification for entry.

Thursday, June 12: Commissioners' Neighborhood Meet & Greet (FREE)
Ages: All

Enjoy a complimentary "picnic" at your local park with your family and friends. There will be free food on a first come, first served basis, the Park District Block Party Wagon will be onsite, and a prize drawing will take place for those in attendance. Park Board members will be on-hand to answer questions on items related to the District.

Saturday, June 14: Gone Fishin' Derby
Ages: All

Come down to the watering hole and bring your favorite poles and pals for our annual catch and release fishing derby! You'll have two full hours to catch as many fish as you can, but don't forget to try and get the big one. We'll award trophies for Largest Fish Caught, Smallest Fish Caught, Most Fish Caught and Best Dressed Fisherman. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Fee is per participant and includes bait, snacks and activities. Fishermen must supply their own fishing poles. Pre-registration is required, NO walk-up registration.

Wednesday, June 18: Summer Jazz in the Park (FREE)
Ages: All

Are you looking for a relaxing night out with wonderful music? The Glen Ellyn Jazz Ensemble, a 16-member group, plays a mix of your favorite Big Band tunes. Jazz in the Park brings a touch of Ravinia to Glen Ellyn. Bring a blanket, lawn chairs and picnic dinner. In case of rain or severe weather, the concert will be cancelled. No alcoholic beverages are allowed in parks.

Friday, July 4: Freedom Four™ Four-Mile Run

Ages: All

Join the biggest event of the running season and help the Park District raise money for scholarships! The star-spangled run starts off on Lenox Road next to Lake Ellyn at 8am "sharp" on Friday, July 4.

Awards are presented to the top two male and female finishers in each division at 9am at the park band shell. A Freedom Four tshirt is guaranteed to every pre-registered participant. Day-of-Race registrants will receive tshirts while supplies last.

Pre-registered participants can pick up their race packets at Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center (800 St Charles Road, Glen Ellyn) from June 30-July 3, 7am-7pm. Day-of-Race registration and packet pick up begins at 6am and ends at 7:30am.

Friday, July 4: Afternoon Festivities (FREE)
Ages: All

Bring your family for a couple of hours of fun after the Fourth of July Parade. Festivities include: moonwalks; inflatable obstacle course; penny carnival games with tickets redeemable for prizes; live music; dancing; and face painting. Plus, concessions will be available for purchase! A $3 wristband let’s you enjoy all of the action while supporting the GEPD Scholarship Fund. Thanks to our sponsor, the Rotary Club of Glen Ellyn for supporting this event!

As always, the Park District is pleased to provide rides, games, crafts and fun, family-oriented entertainment and much more, at no cost to your family. So load everyone in the car and head down to Lake Ellyn for a fantastic family night out, on us! Refreshments will be available for purchase at this event.
